Cannes Film Festival 2015 – A Quick Intro
This year marks the 68th Cannes Film Festival. Just 2 years away from its heavily anticipated 7th Decade, festival head honcho Thierry Frémaux has revealed that amongst the array of talent & beauty on the red-carpet, we will see the likes of Cate Blanchett, Michael Caine & Michael Fassbender.
Causing much excitement has been Frémaux’s revelation that a new adaption of Macbeth starring Fassbender opposite French national treasure Marion Cotillard will screen in competition for the much sought after Palm d’Or. In the same category Cate Blanchett stars in a surreptitious lesbian romance called “Carol”, as well as Colin Farrell & Rachel Weiz in surreal drama “The Lobster”.
The Film Festival will also showcase a number of exciting features screened outside of the competition, including Mad Max: Fury Road, starring Tom Hardy and Woody Allen’s latest offering: Irrational Man with the beautiful Emma Stone. Brothers Joel & Ethan Coen have been announced as presidents of this years Jury. The critically acclaimed American directors are responsible for award winning features such as Fargo & No Country for Old Men.
With a healthy serving of A-listers and industry elites, the Film Festival truly marks the start of summer in Cannes and in particular on La Croisette. Nightclubs such as Bâoli, Les Marches Club & Gotha will be sparked into life with events that will go on to the early hours. Likewise, restaurants such as Le Plage Royal & Hotel Martinez’s Palme d’Or will be operating in full swing with various high profilers embracing the fine dining. On the water, the yacht captains and crew begin their preparations for what will be a hectic period, with many superyachts and luxury tenders already being hired all along the Riviera. With the Monaco Grand Prix taking place on the weekend of the festival, there’s no doubt that we will see some beautiful boats gliding between berths and stop-offs at Port Canto, St. Tropez & Monaco. We’re excited to see it all unravel!
