Enjoy events and the good life during your Yacht Charter in Cannes

Cannes is a place for everyone and for anything. Find some inspiration with 212 Yacht’s round-up of the “Top 10 things to do during a luxury yacht charter in Cannes”:

1. Stroll along La Croisette

Stretching about 2 kilometres along the seafront, Boulevard de la Croisette or ‘La Croisette’ is one of the central landmarks of Cannes.  A wide pedestrianized pathway follows the sandy beaches from the yachts berthed at Vieux Port and the Palais des Festivals all the way to Port Pierre Canto.

The Croisette offers a wonderful location to sit on the iconic blue chairs and gaze at the view of the Bay of Cannes to the Lérins Islands, with plenty of luxury hotels, beach restaurants and designer boutiques along the road.

2. Drop your anchor’s yacht at the Lérins Islands

The Lérins Islands sit just off Cannes and are made up of a group of four islands. The most visited are the two larger islands of Île Sainte-Marguerite and Île Saint-Honorat. Which makes many yachts anchor between the islands. The islands are a tranquil getaway from the bustle of Cannes and have walking trails, a handful of restaurants, historical buildings and swimming coves.

Île Sainte-Marguerite has an interesting Maritime Museum (Musée de la Mer). There you’ll find shipwreck artefacts and archaeology finds. As well as Fort Royal which holds the legendary prison cell of the Man in the Iron Mask.

Île Saint-Honorat is an island of historical and religious significance – it was an important defense post against Saracen attacks, and has been inhabited by monks since the fifth century.  Today, you can visit to see the island chapels, the fortress tower and try wine tasting or the Lérina herb liqueur made by the monks.

Anchoring off the islands is a great vantage point to take in the annual summer fireworks displays, the Festival d’Art Pyrotechnique, held in Cannes and the bay of Juan les Pins.

The beautiful Lérins Islands are a short distance off shore from Cannes and offer a peaceful getaway

3. Laze on the beaches around Cannes

Cannes has a huge number of both private and public beaches to choose from. There are 13 public beaches, 2 municipal beaches and 33 private beaches. They stretch from Cannes La Bocca to Port Pierre Canto.

Closest to Vieux Port, the eastern municipal beaches are Plage de Casino and Plage Macé. With the rest of the Croisette dotted with private beaches, many run by the luxury palace hotels. Some of the popular beaches include Carlton Beach, Majestic, Plage 45, Rado and Z Plage from the Hotel Martinez.

Relaxing on the beaches in Cannes is a wonderful way to soak up the coastal atmosphere and enjoy the stunning views across the Bay of Cannes

For yacht charter guests moored at Port Pierre Canto, there are a few notable beaches nearby. Including Bijou Plage (private and non-smoking) and Plage Zamenhoff (public).

To the western side of Vieux Port, the private beaches of Boulevard du Midi are much cheaper than those on the Croisette. They include O’Key Beach, Riviera Beach and Waikiki. The majority of this section of seafront is public beach all the way along to Cannes La Bocca.

Private beaches are well serviced with food and beverage service, sun lounger rental and umbrella hire. There are also kiosks along the Croisette and Boulevard du Midi. Helpful if you long for hot and cold drinks, ice creams and sandwiches.

4.  Enjoy water sports from your yacht

The climate in Cannes follows a Mediterranean weather pattern with long, warm summer days and low rainfall in winter. Which means you have plenty of sunshine hours throughout the year for using your private yacht’s water toys.

The Lérins Islands are ideal for snorkeling or stand up paddleboarding. You’ll find during your yacht charter in Cannes that you can access many beautiful bays along the French Riviera for jet skiing, water skiing, wakeboarding and using towables.

If you prefer a leisurely experience during your Cannes yacht rental you can just bob around under the sun on an inflatable. Or head to the stunning calanques and caves of the nearby Ésterels. There you have a superb vantage point of the red rocks from the sea. The picturesque locations of Théoule-sur-Mer, Le Trayas, Agay and Anthéor are ideal for sea kayaking. Don’t miss the Ponte de l’Esquillon, Bay of Agay, the Calanques du Maupas and Petit Caneiret and the Pointe du Cap Dramont.

Cannes' mild Mediterrranean climate allows yacht charter guests plenty of chances to enjoy your private yacht's toys in the stunning turquoise waters

5. Dining in Cannes

While chartering a private yacht in Cannes is an exceptional experience with your own onboard chef, restaurants in Cannes give yacht charter guests the chance to have a break ashore. And try sublime dishes in wonderful settings such as garden terraces or atmospheric Old Town bistros.

Whether you’re looking for French finesse and flavour in Michelin-starred restaurants, or the gastronomic comfort of classic cuisine, you can find everything to please your palate at some of the best restaurants in Cannes.

Try the Palme d’Or for a special occasion. Da Mimmo, La Mome or Da Laura for smart service. And Rado Plage for a relaxed meal on the beach.

6. Sunset drinks during your yacht charter in Cannes

Chartering a corporate yacht in Cannes can’t be beaten for optimizing the beautiful vistas of the sea during a cocktail soirée or launch party! If you find yourself ashore as the sun starts to set, here are some suggestions of the best bars in Cannes to head for a sunset drink with a sea view:

  • L’Alba, O’Key Beach or Maema Beach on Boulevard Jean Hibert

Marché Forville is a covered market and one of the French Riviera. It’s located at the bottom of Le Suquet and just 5 minutes’ walk from the yacht berths at Vieux Port. There are numerous stalls selling fresh fruit and vegetables, flowers, cheeses, conserves, seafood and meats. As well as other food stores and restaurants surrounding the outside of the covered market. Open every morning, except Mondays when it turns into a Brocante market (flea market).

The Allées de la Liberté opposite Vieux Port have a daily flower market. And also a weekend market that offers antiques, paintings and souvenirs. Marché Gambetta, hosted daily (except Mondays in winter) near the Cannes train station at Place Gambetta is a local market with Provençal food products, clothing and leather goods. In nearby Cannes La Bocca, the La Bocca Market is also held daily (except Mondays in winter) and retails fresh fruit and vegetables, bread, meats, seafood and flowers. On Saturdays, the market includes clothing, jewellery and accessory vendors.

9. Discover Cannes’ Old Town (Le Suquet)

Le Suquet is Cannes’ Old Town, and situated just 5 minutes’ walk from Vieux Port. It is one of the most charming parts of Cannes. With cobblestoned streets and cosy restaurants with lots of character.

At the top of the hill in Le Suquet, there is an excellent panoramic view over Cannes and the sea from the outdoor courtyard by the Musée de la Castre and the Nôtre Dame de l’Espérance church.
