Famous superyacht Christina O

Christina O is arguably the most famous superyacht charters in the world, and for good reason.

The Famous Superyacht Christina O’s History:

The vessel started out as HMCS Stormont – a frigate in the Canadian Navy. She saw action in Normandy during the Second World War.

When the war was over, there was a surplus of naval vessels. So billionaire Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis was able to purchase Stormont at its scrap value. He rebuilt and renovated her. Then renaming the yacht ‘Christina’ after his daughter, he transformed the naval vessel into one of the most famous superyachts in the world. Onassis’ redesign set a new standard in yachting and luxury. With new features such as the stunning mosaic pool. Which raises with the push of a button to become a dance floor!

In just short of two decades under the ownership of Onassis, Christina welcomed an impressive list of celebrities, world leaders and elites. On board Christina was where Winston Churchill first met John F. Kennedy in 1957. It was also where the wedding reception was held for Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier III of Monaco and for John F. Kennedy’s wedding with former first lady of America, Jacqueline Kennedy. Other A-list guests include Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, John D. Rockefeller, Richard Burton and many more.

Onassis was deeply affected by his sons death, and passed away two years later. His daughter Christina donated the yacht to the Greek government for use as a presidential yacht. However they could not keep up with the maintenance costs and so the yacht, renamed Argo, was left to decay.

In 1998, John Paul Papanicolao – a friend of the Onassis family, bought the yacht. He spent a cool $50 million on restoring the yacht over three years. He renamed it once again after the late Christina, as Christina O. All work to the yacht was done very considerately. Ensuring that almost all of the renowned features of the yacht such as the pool, piano and bars were retained. Since the refit, famous superyacht Christina O has welcomed several more famous celebrity faces on board. Including Paul McCartney and many more!

Christina O Herself:

Famous Superyacht Christina O is a beautiful yacht in its own right. She can cruise with the most number of guests of any charter yacht in the world with up to 157 guests. She is also able to sleep 34 guests in no less than 14 cabins. Making her the perfect yacht for special occasions. Whether they be corporate, birthdays, or weddings such as that of Grace Kelly!

It is not just the sheer size of this yacht that will leave guests astonished. There are five chefs always on hand to serve up Michelin star food, ensuring guests never go hungry! Also on board are two massage rooms and a beauty room. With spa therapists available to guests at no additional cost. A charter on famous superyacht Christina O really is the ultimate relaxing experience.

For those more active, the vessel offers an approved RYA water sports centre with a vast range of different toys and activities. Also included is a waters sports instructor to make sure that guests are able to fully take advantage of these activities!

The bar staff will be on hand at one of the yachts incredible bars. Including Ari’s bar – one of the most infamous bars in the world. This has been well maintained. She still includes the stools that Winston Churchill, amongst many other famous guests, sat on. In true Onassis style, these are made from leather cured from the foreskins of sperm whales. Aristotle loved to tell guests that they were sitting on the world’s largest…well, you can guess what!

The incredible dining room can cater for up to 42 guests, and includes a Steinway piano – one of three pianos on board the famous superyacht Christina O. The interior has retained various fascinating pieces of memorabilia from the Onassis era and there is an incredible story behind each and every part of the yacht.

To charter this famous superyacht Christina O is to charter a piece of history. It is an opportunity to dine where John F. Kennedy dined, to drink where Winston Churchill drank, to dance where Grace Kelly and Frank Sinatra danced and to roam the decks where various celebrities have roamed. Yet a charter on Christina O offers so much more than this rich history, and guests can be guaranteed an experience of a lifetime on board this truly sensational yacht that is deserving of its stellar reputation in every way.
