Grenadines Yacht Charter One Week Itinerary

St. Vincent and the Grenadines are a stunning chain of 32 islands, of which just 7 are inhabited, making up one Caribbean territory. Further South, Grenada is a separate territory comprising 3 gorgeous islands, and completes the idyllic Windward Islands chain. Owing to measures to protect the natural heritage of the islands, and a refreshing absence of mass tourism, the Windward Islands boast an abundance of unspoilt landscapes and vibrant wildlife, creating the perfect Caribbean yacht charter atmosphere. Grenadines yacht charter, or a more local Grenada yacht charter will give you exclusive access to one of the best yacht charter destinations in the Caribbean.

Explore the Grenadines by Yacht

The following Grenadines and Grenada yacht charter itinerary is a sample designed to demonstrate what is possible on a week yacht charter in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Your luxury yacht charter remains completely flexible. Which allows you to move as you please (weather permitting) and fill your charter with activities that will contribute to a truly memorable Caribbean yacht charter experience. Whilst on-board, you will benefit from the extensive experience of a captain and crew, who will further advise and endeavour to tailor the experience to your tastes.

Day 1: St Vincent to Bequia

Begin your Grenadines yacht charter in St Vincent, which people often describe as the ‘Gateway to the Grenadines’. St Vincent’s Argyle Airport has a good connection with Bridgetown, Barbados which in turn offers regular flights to major U.S. and European airports. Board your luxury charter yacht at 10 AM, where your captain and crew will welcome you on-board and offer a guided tour, before serving your breakfast on the upper deck in the morning sun. With fresh pineapple juice in-hand, begin the short cruise to what many describe as the perfect Caribbean Island.

Bequia offers the perfect balance between relaxation and Caribbean vibrancy, and has activities for all visitors.  With an extraordinarily diverse reef, the island has 41 dive sites where you can expect to see octopi, manta rays and iconic hawksbill turtles. For those looking to relax, choose from one of the many stunning beaches that line the shores or take in your glorious surroundings from the comfort of your charter yacht’s swimming platform. The first evening of your Grenadines yacht charter can either take place on board, where your chef will serve up an array of culinary delights tailored to your palette, or you can dine at one of the island’s many highly-regarded restaurants. Auberge des Grenadines has an excellent selection of seafood, Le Petit Jardin offers gourmet French cuisine and for a taste of the Caribbean be sure to visit the Firefly Plantation.

Begin your charter in the well connected 'Gateway to the Grenadines'. Just a short cruise South finds you immersed in the Caribbean paradise that is the Grenadines Islands.

Day 2: Bequia to Mustique

Mustique is a private island, home to just 104 residences, many of which are owned by royalty and well-known figures. A delightfully low-key destination, the many white sandy beaches are a place for real relaxation and recuperation, with scarce visitors to disrupt peaceful moments with your yacht charter companions. Several coral reefs offer more opportunity to explore the depths in peace. The bays of Mustique are the perfect place to drop anchor, where you can ask your crew to set up your water toys and BBQ, and enjoy the perfect Caribbean afternoon. For a splash of colour and some local treats, visit the quaint fishing village at Britannia Bay, home to some charming shops, the legendary Basil’s Bar / restaurant and the authentic French-run Sweetie Pie Bakery.

Mustique is surrounded by peaceful white sandy beaches, perfect for a peaceful afternoon at anchor or a beach BBQ in solitude.

Day 3: Mustique to Tobago Cays

After a picturesque and smooth cruise South, you will arrive at the five-island archipelago of the Tobago Cays. You might recognise this location from “The Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Dead Man’s Chest”. Which is sure to excite any children among your group. The key element of the Tobago Cays Marine Park. The Cays features extensive coral reefs with an abundance of exotic sea-life, offering some of the best snorkelling in the Windward Islands Chain. The colour and visibility of the water is simply remarkable! After an afternoon rubbing shoulders with exotic sea-life, take the time to stroll along one of several walking paths that trail the islands. And make sure to keep an eye-out for iguanas nestled among the palm trees.

You may also wish to visit nearby Canouan en-route from Mustique to Tobago Cays. Particularly if you enjoy golf as the up-and-coming island hosts a stunning 18-hole Jim Fazio course. To learn more about Canouan yacht charter, click here.

The water visibility and diversity of the sea life at the Tobago Cays is simply unbelievable. With an abundance of coral to explore, an afternoon at the Tobago Cays is never enough!

Day 4: Tobago Cays to Mayreau

Accessible only by yacht, Mayreau is the epitome of tranquillity. And a must-see destination on your Grenadines yacht charter. For stunning views across the Tobago Cays, make the short walk up the hill. There you encounter the tiny village of Old Wall, be sure to bring your camera! The beach at Saltwhistle Bay is simply divine. It’s an excellent location to take advantage of your private beach club and BBQ, if your charter yacht has one on-board. Alternatively, enjoy a light lunch rich with fresh products and local specialities. Enjoy them on your upper or aft deck, soaking in this picture-perfect back-drop. For a formal dining experience and drinks with an unmissable ambiance, visit Saltwhistle Bay Beach Club. Your yacht charter broker and captain will work closely to manage all reservations during your Grenadines yacht charter. So that you can relax and live the Caribbean lifestyle to the full.

Mayreau is accessible only by yacht, so the stunning views across the Tobago Cays are reserved for a fortunate few. Make sure to visit the hill-top town of Old Wall for unspoilt views!

Day 5: Mayreau to Union Island

Day 5 will see you arrive at the mountainous outpost of Union Island. Previously a hotbed for contraband smuggling, this Caribbean island has developed quickly. And now possesses an attractive array of boutiques, bars and restaurants. The highlight is the iconic Mount Taboi, which stands at 1,000 feet above sea level. Thus offering one of the most spectacular views in the Grenadines. Well connected by road and trail, the hike to the summit makes for an excellent adventure. Spend the evening at anchor in the lively Clifton Harbour, excited to enter a new territory the next morning. Your Grenada yacht charter starts now.

Once a hotbed for contraband smuggling, the picturesque Union Island is now a chic Caribbean destination, complete with up-scale boutiques, vibrant bars and acclaimed eateries.

Day 6: Union Island to Carriacou

On day six, your Grenada yacht charter begins, as you arrive in the charming and truly memorable territories known as the ‘Spice of the Caribbean’. On arrival in Carriacou, your captain will complete immigration formalities, while you enjoy a fresh breakfast and morning dip in the jacuzzi. Carriacou remains refreshingly authentic and undeveloped, void of mass tourism and large resorts. Local culture and customs are both rich and visible. With music and dance playing an important role in the island’s European and African heritage. Like Bequia, boat-building is an important local industry and a matter of great pride. Delve into local history at Belair National Park, where the tropical forest contrasts with intriguing ancient ruins.

For a relaxed meal, head to the Lazy Turtle in Tyrell Bay famed for it’s thin-crust pizza topped with fresh lobster. Alternatively, the private boutique resort on Petite Saint Vincent offers a more refined dining experience.

Authentic and void of mass-tourism, Carriacou offers a glimpse at true Caribbean culture and life. And of course, the scenery is stunning. What a welcome to Grenada!

Day 7: Carriacou to Grenada

The mainland of Grenada is full of history and offers activities of all kinds. Amongst the nutmeg, coco plants and exotic fruit ‘The Spice Island’s’ luscious beaches and dive spots are an absolute must. To see something truly unique head to the Underwater Sculpture Park at Molinière bay just north of the capital St George’s. Established by British artist Jason de Caires Taylor, this extraordinary collection sees over 80 structures that have slowly been colonised by marine life, making for an intriguing mix of culture and nature.

For a glimpse of the island’s history, head to the Belmont Estate cocoa plantation and rum distillery. There you will have the chance to see how the locals make both products, as well as picking up some superb souvenirs. Chartering a yacht will enable you to visit some of Grenada’s more remote spots. Including the beautiful Sandy Island at the top of the mainland.

Note: Thanks to the flexible nature of yacht charter, you may choose to skip an earlier destination and spend an extra day in Grenada. Of course that is if you would like to extend this part of your Grenada yacht charter!
